WorldRemit Bank Transfer: How It Works
A WorldRemit bank transfer sends money to your recipient's bank account abroad. You enter the amount, your recipient's details and their bank details, then pay. WorldRemit says delivery varies by country, and bank transfers are usually credited within one working day.
Steps
WorldRemit's help page gives these steps:
- Log in or sign up for a WorldRemit account.
- Select the country and the amount you want to send.
- Enter your recipient's details (name, address, phone number) and bank details (bank name, IBAN and SWIFT code).
- Pay for your transaction.

The bank details you may need
WorldRemit explains these codes:
- SWIFT or BIC code: identifies the country, bank and branch. It is 8 or 11 characters long and includes numbers and letters.
- IBAN: identifies an individual account. It is up to 34 characters.
- ABA routing number: a 9-digit number identifying US banks, similar to a UK sort code.
Ask your recipient or their bank for the right details. A typo can delay a transfer.
How long does it take?
WorldRemit says it varies by where you send. It could be instant or take 1 to 2 working days. Delivery times are counted in working days, so weekends and public holidays are not included.
Why a bank transfer can be late
WorldRemit lists these reasons:
- It may need extra information from you.
- It may need extra information from the recipient, such as ID.
- Public holidays and weekends are not counted.
- In a very small number of cases, technical issues at the recipient's bank can affect crediting.
If yours is late, see how to track a WorldRemit transfer.
Can you cancel one?
WorldRemit says bank transfers are usually instant, so cancelling is not always possible. Contact customer service as soon as you can. See WorldRemit refund policy and can you cancel a WorldRemit transfer?.
Limits and cost
WorldRemit says the maximum amount depends on the country you send to, the country you send from, your payment option and its local partner's limits. Fees depend on the destination country, see WorldRemit fees. For ways to pay, read WorldRemit payment methods.
